BILLINGS, Mont. (WANE) - A fire in a tank containing asphalt at the ConocoPhillips fuel refinery in Billings, Montana has been extinguished.

Refinery spokeswoman Tiffany Wilson said the fire was reported just after 3 p.m. Thursday. It was burning in a tank connected to the refinery's coker plant, which turns heavy oil into gasoline and other products.

The Billings Fire Department, company fire crews and crews from neighboring refineries were called to the scene. They extinguished the fire shortly before 6 p.m.

Wilson said all employees and contractors have been accounted for, and no injuries have been reported. She also said air monitoring has been conducted, and readings indicate no risk to public health.

Wilson said a thorough investigation of the incident will be conducted to determine the fire's cause.
