FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - While family and friends here in northeast Indiana are grieving over Aliahna Lemmon's tragic death, so is a little girl in Maryland. That's where Aliahna lived before she moved to Fort Wayne.
Why did he do that to her? She didn't do anything to him at all," Kymberley Schwartz said.
Kymberley and Aliahna became fast friends in school in Hagerstown, Maryland.
"She was trustworthy and kindhearted," Kymberley said. "We like to sing, we like to play guitar."
When Aliahna moved to Fort Wayne, they kept in touch over the phone and on Facebook. They were supposed to talk on Christmas Day to share what presents they got. But, by Christmas, Aliahna had been missing for more than a day.
"Is she going to be okay? Is she going to be dead? Are they going to find her alive?" Kymberley wondered.
Questions that were answered by a nightmare when police found Aliahna's body. Michael Plumadore, a reported family friend and the man who was babysitting Aliahna and her sisters, told police he killed Aliahna and then dismembered her body
Now, Kymberley clings to memories of her friend, writing her letters in heaven.
"Last night we got a balloon because Ali liked Tinkerbell and we let go of it so it could go to heaven for her and it's going to be a routine we're going to keep for awhile," Rhonda Schwartz, Kymberley's mother, said.
