Area rain, winds causing problems

(WANE) - Flooded roads and high winds are causing problems in several northeast Indiana counties tonight.

Winds are gusting at more than 50 miles per hour, leading to some reports of downed trees and power outages in the Newschannel 15 viewing area.

In Wells County, officials have issued a travel warning because of scattered flooding from Wednesday's heavy rains. That means conditions on county roads are threatening and only essential traffic should be on them.

Huntington County leaders have issued a travel caution. That means travel may be limited or hindered in some areas and that drivers need to be aware of rapidly changing water conditions. Crews there were filling sandbags Wednesday evening.

There have also been reports of several roads under water in Allen, Whitley, and Adams counties.

If you come across standing water, officials say it's best to turn your car around and find another route rather than chance it. Stay with Newschannel 15 and wane.com for updates.
