NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) - A garage in New Haven caught fire early Friday morning after being hit by lightning. The fire quickly spread to two adjacent homes located in the 1300 block of Baywood Drive.

Fire crews arrived on the scene just before 1 a.m., but the fire had spread so quickly that the garage was a total loss.  Fire fighters were also hampered by downed power lines.

One of the homes suffered extensive damage to the kitchen and a bedroom.  The other home suffered only moderate damage.

All of the occupants were able to get out of the homes safely and there were no injuries.
