Insurance Holds up Fatal Fire Cause

Cause Pending in Triple Fatal

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - An insurance investigation has the Fort Wayne Fire Department sitting on the results of it's own investigation into a triple fatal fire at a Southwest Fort Wayne apartment complex last month.

Fire Chief Pete Kelly says the department's investigation into the WIllows of Coventry fire on January 23rd is all but complete, and based on the information available right now, it's revealed nothing that suggests foul play. However, Kelly is not releasing the complete results of their investigation until the insurance company that covers Dial Equities, the Willows parent company, has completed a seperate investigation.

Kelly says both parties have been extremely thorough with their investigations, because of the fatal nature of the fire. Three International Business College students died in the fire. The Allen County Coroner has withheld ruling the deaths accidental until a cause into the fire had been released.

Kelly had no idea when the insurance company would complete it's investigation, but said they would "compare notes" at that time.
