EDGERTON, Ohio (WANE) - Fleetwood Enterprises has announced it will close its plant located in Edgerton, Ohio as part of the company's decision to get out of the travel trailer business.
The plant will close its doors by mid-April.
A company spokesperson say a majority of workers will leave within the next week and a handful will stay to tie up loose ends.
Fleetwood, which is based in Riverside, California, has sent letters to its dealers indicating it will no longer manufacture travel trailers because of the economic downturn.
The Edgerton plant first opened in 1969 and closed in December of 2004. Fleetwood reopened the plant in 2006 to meet demands for travel trailers in light of the Katrina disaster on the gulf coast.
Fleetwood will close the Edgerton plant once all of its existing orders for travel trailers are filled.
