Fleetwood Enterprises, based in Riverside California, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company makes recreational vehicles and manufactured housing at facilities around the country, including northeast Indiana.

The company makes motor homes in Decatur, Indiana.  It also operates service facilities there.  Fleetwood also operates a travel trailer plant in Edgerton, Ohio.  That plant will close as part of Fleetwood's decision to get out of the travel trailer business.  The Edgerton plant is one of three manufacturing facilities that will close.  Two service facilities will also close.  Approximately 675 jobs will be affected by the cuts.  Fleetwood will also lay off an additional 65 corporate associates.

In a news release issued by Fleetwood, the company reports it will continue to operate its motor home and manufactured housing businesses while it seeks buyers.

Fleetwood was founded in 1950 and employs more than 3,000 people at 15 plants located in 10 states.
