HARTFORD CITY, Ind. (WANE) - State officials were in Hartford City, Monday, to honor the late State Senator David Ford.

They renamed a 5.5 mile stretch of State Road 3 the Senator David C. Ford Memorial Highway.

Ford died in March of 2008 after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer.

Officials say the memorial will remind people of the commitment and dedication Ford showed during his 14 year tenure in the Indiana Senate.

Sen. Travis Holdman (R-Markle) was selected by precinct committee members to complete Ford's four year term.
