A child playing with a lighter started a small fire at a shelter in Albion.

It happened a little after 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Noble House on E. Highland St.

The 5-year-old boy started the fire while his babysitter was in another part of the building.  While the child ran for help, a staff member noticed the flames and pulled the boy's infant sibling from a crib.  Other employees used an extinguisher to put the fire out.

The crib and some belongings are damaged, but smoke reached most areas of the building.

Medics treated one adult for difficulty breathing.

Noble House Ministries operates Noble House to shelter women and children and Pilot House to shelter men.
