Teenager in jail after alleged stabbing

AKRON, Ind. (WANE) - One man is in jail, the other is in the hospital after a stabbing in Kosciusko County.

Andrew Joe Runyon, 18, is charged with felony aggravated battery.

Police say he stabbed Zachary Taylor Smith, 19, at a party located at 13052 E. SR 114 in Akron on Monday night.

Police reports indicate Runyon was upset because another man had been sending text messages to his ex-girlfriend.

While party-goers were trying to calm him down, Runyon allegedly cut Smith on his arm and leg.

Smith underwent surgery for his wounds Tuesday morning.
