LIGONIER, Ind. (WANE) A Ligonier woman spent the day bowling and swimming; two things she didn't think she'd get to do again.
Mary Strawser, 88, lives in the Avalon Village Retirement Home. Each month, Avalon Village grants one wish to one of the residents. Strawser said she's always loved to swim and used to be in a bowling league.
"My average was 169," Strawser said. "And that's good for a woman. That's more for a man's average."
She didn't think she'd get the chance to enjoy those activities again, but she did on Tuesday. Avalon leaders took her to the Kendallville YMCA to swim, to Applebee's for lunch and birthday cake, and then the Shadow Bowl to knock down a few pins.
