WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - NewsChannel 15 has learned that the ex-husband of missing woman, Debra Houser, 49, was not supposed to be living with her in a rented Whitley County home.  According to the property's landlord, the man was not on the lease for the home in Northeast indiana.

Police wouldn't say if Rod Houser was still in custody on Thursday. He was taken in for questioning on Wednesday, shortly after Debra Houser disappeared.

Twenty sets of two-man police officer teams continued to search for DebraHouser in a 5-square mile area of rural Whitley County. The search was expanded from the 2-mile radius around the Houser home that officer completed on Wednesday.

An Indiana State Police helicopter joined the effort Thursday.

In all, four police departments are involved: the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the Columbia City Police Department,  the Whitley County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police.

"We've got a lot of manpower here from all the agencies," said Whitley County Sheriff Mark Hodges. "We're doing the best we can with what information we have, working through the elements and the terrain."

The Eel River runs through the area, so police are searching the ditches and creeks that feed into it.

The search for Debra Houser began Wednesday after a man showed up at the Whitley County Sheriff's Department headquarters at around 11 a.m. and said he was concerned about the Houser's welfare.  Houser had not shown up for work and the search initially centered around her rental home located at County Road 400 West and Old Trail.

Authorities say she lived at the home with Rod Houser, and a 10-year-old child.  Police obtained a search warrant and searched inside the home.

Police have finished searching the area outside the home. Authorities did not release a photo of Debra Houser, though that is common in cases of missing people. A family member of Debra Houser released photos to NewsChannel 15 late Thursday, in an effort to help the search.

Police don't know if Debra Houser has health problems and they have not said if they suspect foul play.
