COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WANE) -- A water main break in Columbia City has shut down water for several homes and businesses in the area.

The Peabody Public Library announced they would be closed all day Tuesday due to the break.

According to a release from the Whitley County Sheriff's Office, a 12" pipe broke at the intersection of State Highway 205 and U.S. 30 sometime before 8:30 Tuesday morning.

Water has been shut down at Peabody Library , and the Eagle Glen and Irish Glen neighborhoods while the break is repaired.  According to their website, the library will be closed until further notice.

Service was also shut down at Parkview Whitley Hospital , but officials there tell NewsChannel 15 that they have a backup well and will not be affected.
