Warsaw man charged with sexual assault of minor

WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) -- A Warsaw man has turned himself in to authorities and is now facing charges of child solicitation and sexual battery, after allegedly initiating sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl.
Howard Leon Southall, 50, turned himself into Kosciusko County Jail authorities Monday after a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
According to Warsaw police, they received numerous complaints from June through August that Southall had been approaching young girls in the Canterbury Apartment complex and on Harrison Elementary School property.
A subsequent investigation found that Southall had exchanged notes with a 14-year-old girl in July and August, and interviews alleged sexual touching of the child by Southall.
During the investigation Southall fled to the Indianapolis area. He was charged in Kosciusko Superior Court with charges of child solicitation and sexual battery, both class D felonies.
Southall is now being held at the Kosciusko County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
