FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - People were walking Saturday to help raise awareness for suicide prevention. The second annual "Fort Wayne Out of the Darkness Community Walk" took place at Foster Park.
The goal is to get people talking about suicide prevention. Organizers said suicide is the third leading cause of death in college students, so an event like this is important for Fort Wayne.
"We have six or seven different colleges and universities. It needs to be out there. We're losing too many lives to suicide because people don't want to talk about it and it needs to be talked about," Ashley Jones, the event organizer, said.
The walk raises money to fund support groups and helps get information out to schools.
