FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Just days before the election, a couple of political action groups are sending voters “report cards” that grade each voter on how often he or she has voted and compares that to neighbors.
Moveon.org Civic Action and Americans for Limited Government are behind the cards that have many voters concerned.
“They're a little upset that anyone would have this information,” said Allen County Election Board Director Beth Dlug, who’s been receiving calls about the report cards.
Dlug said she’s not sure what the groups’ true intentions are, but that it appears they’re trying to get people out to vote.
According to voterreportcard.org, Moveon.org Civic Action claims it’s “dedicated to giving citizens the knowledge and tools they need. The Voter Report Card helps people keep track of their voting attendance records.”
Dlug said the groups only have access to whether or not someone voted; not who that person voted for.
"Voters’ voting history is actually a matter of public record,” Dlug said. “Because it is not confidential and a public record, we would be required to give that information to them."
Indiana's Secretary of State, Connie Lawson, has also received calls about the report cards. She advises people to just disregard them.
