FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - You can learn about volunteer opportunities at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo Friday, February 10.
A Volunteer Information Fair was scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the main pavilion outside the zoo at Franke Park.
Interested adults and teens will be able to talk with active volunteers, learn about their jobs and meet some zoo animals.
Volunteer positions include guest service, education program support and zoo keeper aides. Anyone age 18 and older can apply to be an adult volunteer.
Teenagers ages 13-17 can apply for the Z-Team Teen Volunteer & Leadership Program. The deadline for Z-Team Teen Volunteer & Leadership Program applicants is February 29.
Training for new adult volunteers will begin in the spring.
"Volunteers are integral to connecting zoo guests with animals," said Kathy Terlizzi, the zoo's volunteer coordinator. "It's a rewarding way to contribute to the zoo's success."
Last year, more than 400 volunteers donated over 31,000 hours to the zoo.
The zoo opens for the 2012 season on Saturday, April 21.
