FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - It's been 12 days of harmonious competition for the Voices of Unity at the 2012 World Choir Games Cincinnati. A quarter point is what caused them to lose their title as World Champs in the gospel category, but their supporters are singing their praises.
"To see the work Dr. White has instilled in these children and they went on without any fear, without any hesitation as the champions that they were, said Voices of Unity board of directors member Junius Pressey.
Parents and supporters spent some time Sunday evening at IPFW setting up at Rhinehart Music Center to welcome home the choir members.
As the kids got off the bus, they were greeted with hugs and congratulations. They weren't singing the blues over their title, but they came home on a high note because of their experience.
Even though they didn't win the top spot, they still earned gold medals from both the gospel and pop choral categories. Marshall White, Voices of Unity Choral Director, said this has opened opportunities for not only the kids, but for Fort Wayne too.
"The Voices of Unity has made a mark on the world and the city of Cincinnati. These kids are absolutely incredible," White said.
Voices of Unity will be preparing for the World Choir Games 2014. Those will be Riga, Latvia.
