Vacant house destroyed by fire

RIVERHAVEN, Ind. (WANE) - Firefighters from the New Haven-Adams Township Fire Department battled a house fire early Monday morning in Riverhaven.
Around 2:30, firefighters were called to a vacant home in the 1000 block of Portola Avenue, near Parrot and Maplecrest Roads.
The first crews found heavy smoke and flames from a one-story home.
Fire Chief John Bennett said the home has been vacant since 2008 and has been apart of a tax sale for several years.
The home sustained heavy damage. Fire officials did not say if the fire was suspicious.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
