FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The University of Saint Francis hosted its seventh annual Best Practices Showcase for Indiana educators Saturday morning.
Nancy Hankee, assistant professor at University of Saint Francis, said the event is held for teachers and social work professionals from across the state to learn from other teachers. Teachers share their best practices of what they use in their classrooms on a daily basis. The subjects include literary, math, science, and social studies.
Hankee said over 310 teachers from all around Indiana attended the event. Students from Ball State University, Manchester University, and Huntington University also attended to learn more about teaching as a future career.
"We sponsor this event on a weekend so teachers have the time to come," Hankee said.
Hankee said the event has grown each year. There were 17 presenters in 2006, when USF first hosted the event, and this year, there were 60 presenters.
In addition to presentations by educators, specialists from the Indiana Department of Education also provided overviews of the department's initiatives.
