DECATUR, Ind. (WANE) - DECATUR, Ind. (WANE) – A train derailment closed a Decatur street Thursday afternoon.
According to Decatur police, the train derailed near the Bunge soy bean processing plant around noon.
Bunge officials said the engine was going over a switch and the switch broke, causing the front wheels of the engine to go off the tracks. Crews were able to push the engine back onto the tracks.
Second Street was closed for several hours while repairs were made. It was reopened this evening.
A switch is the mechanism used to switch trains from one track to another.
