FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - People took to the trails at Metea County Park Sunday for the 2nd annual Trailblazers Kickoff event.

They took a mile hike on Soft Shell Turtle Trail starting at the nature center. Trailblazers is a free program with 15 different trails on the list.

The Allen County Trailblazers' goal is to get people outside and enjoy nature.

"Their quality of life increases when they have quality, natural areas around where they live that they can go and relax and see nature and just enjoy being outside," Bob Dispenza, with the Allen County Parks Department, said.

Last year about three hundred people participated in program. Leaders hope more people get out there this year.
