FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The U.S. Marine Corp's Toys for Tots organization was at the Toy R Us at Glenbrook on Wednesday to buy toys for children in need in the community.

Sunny Helstrom, Toys for Tots Coordinator, said this time of year is always exciting for them and the kids.

"Our goal each year and our mission actually is to provide hope to the less fortunate children in our area and so we're able to do that by the donations of toys or cash," said Helstrom. "Our goal is, that the children wake up Christmas morning with a smile on their face."

Distribution of the toys will start on Dec. 17.

Give to Toys for Tots

The annual drive asks for help to supply toys in time for Christmas to children of families who are struggling.  If you wish to help, please bring new, unwrapped toys to designated collection sites until December 14.

Toys for children of all ages are needed.  Newborns, toddlers and up through 10 to 14 year old boys and girls.  These items will be matched to families in the area with demonstrated need, and delivered in time for Christmas.
