FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -Its history is riddled with changes and delays. The Harrison was originally supposed to be completed in June of 2009 . When tenants were announced in 2011, the completion date was moved to summer 2012. Friday, leaders with BND Commercial Real Estate said tenants will move in February 1. NewsChannel 15 got a tour of The Harrison Friday as it was under construction.
Crews worked on O'Reilly's Irish Bar and Three Rivers Credit Union on the first floor, but sales associate Breck Geeting with BND Commercial Real Estate said they’re still looking for another retailer.
“Right now we're trying to get a few more restaurants or things of that nature, but we have two tenants,” Geeting said.
Carson Boxberger law firm is being dry-walled on the second floor. Apartments on the third and fourth floors are beginning to take form.
So far, 19 of the 43 apartments at The Harrison have been leased. The majority of those have a view of Parkview Field. There are only three apartments left with a ballpark view. Geeting said the first unit that was leased out was the most expensive unit. It runs for $2,150 a month.
The apartments start at $905 a month including parking. Though there are still several to be leased, leaders with BND Real Estate said that doesn't mean there isn't interest.
“We've had tons of phone calls and emails every day,” Geeting said. “There were a few nay-sayers, you know saying the project is never going to happen, but the new owners and Hagerman Construction have done a fantastic job in just believing in the project and getting everyone on board.”
