FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Two adults and a child were able to get out of their home unharmed after a fire started in the family’s kitchen early Sunday morning.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to 5713 Hartford Dr. around 1:45 a.m. to find light smoke coming from the back of the house.

The residents were outside when crews got to the scene.  A dog had to be rescued from inside.

Crews contained the fire to the kitchen where there was moderate smoke and fire damage.

Investigators did not immediately know what started the fire.
