FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Around a thousand walkers filled IPFW's campus Saturday morning for The American Heart Association’s heart walk. The event is a fundraising and awareness opportunity.

The American Heart Association says more than one in three adults has some form of cardiovascular disease.
Community Relationships Coordinator Carmen Parker said, “Heart disease is the number one killer. It's a silent killer for some, especially women. It's affected many women and they don't even know they have an issue.”

Physicians Health Plan was the local sponsor for the walk. Money raised will go to heart disease research and education.
