FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Thousands of people participated in the 14th annual Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown Sunday.

Maybe you haven't been somewhere in years, or you haven't seen it since it's been remodeled. Either way it's a chance to rediscover some of Fort Wayne's unique attractions The event happens every year on the Sunday after Labor Day. 12,000 people turned out this year. It includes free admission to 12 different museums and attractions. But being free isn't the only thing that gets people out there.

"A lot of these places also do something really special today. Parkview field you can get down on the field or maybe in the locker rooms. The court house you can take your phone in and your camera, which you can't normally do, and take pictures of the beautiful architecture. So people kinda do something really speical today that might be the only time of the year that you can do it," Visit Fort Wayne's Kristen Guthrie said.

One of the most popular attractions was Lincoln Tower. People were able to go on the roof and get a birds eye view of the city.
