FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The estate of Bill Berghoff of the Berghoff Brewery will be auctioned off Saturday. You can have his furniture, his antique cars, even his house, if the price is right.
"We're sad to see it go, but it's time. It's a new chapter in the family book," said Bill Berghoff Jr.
Berghoff said his father's things are more stuff than he and his four brothers can handle. That's why they're having the auction. They were brought up the house located off Old Trail Road since 1970 and said his family has been collecting worldwide treasures since he could remember and those items have been passed down from generation to generation.
"Although there were items in the house, I didn't understand the background on a lot of them," said Berghoff.
That's where Tim McCulloch comes in.
"If you can get out on the right platform, where the world can see it, then they can identify the things and sometimes the world tells you what's valuable," said McCulloch.
McCulloch is president for Scheerer McCulloch Auctioneers, Inc. and is assisting the Berghoff family with the auction. With the company's online bidding, they were able to put the Berghoff estate on a global market.
"I think we have a painting that might go back to England, we have some Asian antiques that may end up in Taiwan or China," McCulloch said.
But the Berghoff family is looking for some of their family heritage to stay closer to home.
If you would like to be a part of the auction, you can attend the auction between 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday at 4202 Old Mill Road. Or you can place your bid online by clicking here .
