NewsChannel 15 caught up with the Wylies. After about six months of waiting, they finally got to move in.
Empty nesters Tom and Lisa Wylie decided to trade living in their home for an apartment home downtown with a balcony view of Parkview Field.
"For us this was really the best option. We are really fortunate to have one of the last units that actually overlook the ballpark. So, we kind of jumped on it," Lisa Wylie explained.
Lisa works downtown. She said they saw many benefits to also living there. Lisa said she's able to walk and bike to work, as well as enjoy everything happening downtown. The Wylies put their home on the market after signing their name on the dotted line for an apartment in the Harrison. They said it sold within a day. Since then, they've been homeless, so to speak and are ready to get settled.
"I am thrilled to be here. We are ready for baseball season. Everything is new and fresh and there's so much excitement that revolves around the Harrison and opening. I've been really fortunate to start meeting some of my neighbors."
The Wylies hope with the construction of the Harrison and more people living downtown that there will be a positive shift in Fort Wayne's economy. The Wylies said there's a wide range of people living in the Harrison. Young professionals and also people like them empty nesters looking for something different. The spokesperson for the Harrison said Friday will be their busiest move-in day.
