FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the Spring Street Bridge project on Friday, October 5 at 4 p.m.

The ceremony will take place on the east side of the bridge and the public is invited to attend.

Among those participating in the ribbon cutting will be officials from Allen County and the City of Fort Wayne and Sister Elise Kriss, OSF, President of the University of Saint Francis.

Deer Park Irish Pub will also be celebrating the Spring St. Bridge reopening with a "prohibition party" following the ribbon cutting ceremony. Tony Henry, the pub's owner , said it felt like the prohibition during the year-long construction project.

Henry said since the pub is located at the foot of the bridge, the construction caused a significant decline in business.

The pub will be serving "Batch 19" beer, which is a prohibition-era beer recipe that is once again being brewed by Coors Brewing Company.

“I fully support the county’s effort to maintain safe bridges and improve traffic flow, but we have paid a big price with a downturn in business, and now it’s time to celebrate the bridge’s reopening," Henry said.

The Deer Park Irish Pub is located at Leesburg Rd. and Spring St. across from the University of St. Francis.
