FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Sled Hockey program held its first ever community challenge Saturday.
The Turnstone Flyers played against skaters from the community. The Sled Hockey program is a partnership between the Fort Wayne Youth Hockey and the Turnstone Sled Hockey Program. Organizers said Saturday's event helps show the community what sled hockey is.
"The great thing about sled hockey is it's an opportunity to see that when people go out on the ice, there are no differences. It's regular hockey. This sport is for everybody. Fort Wayne is a hockey town and it truly is, it's for everybody," Chuck Reddinger, the event organizer, said.
Saturday's event was also a fundraiser for the Bob Chase Frostbite Sled Hockey Tournament. That will be in February.
