Cleanup expected to take days or weeks

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The executive director of the Headwaters Park Alliance has called damage to the downtown park ‘significant. ’

Geoff Paddock said as many as 30 trees were damaged or destroyed in high winds during Friday afternoon’s storm.  Toppled trees uprooted sidewalks and damaged fences in the grassy areas of the park.

The cleanup was estimated to take days if not weeks to complete.

Paddock did not expect the damage or cleanup to affect any upcoming festival events at the park or Lincoln Financial and Madge Rothschild pavilions.

Neither pavilions appeared to suffer any damage.
