FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - An eight-year-old student stabbed a six-year-old boy in the head with a pencil at Shambaugh Elementary school in Fort Wayne Tuesday morning.

Police and an ambulance were called to the school just after 11 a.m. Fort Wayne Police say the six-year-old was not seriously hurt and did not need to go to the hospital.

Officers were told the two boys were fighting. The eight-year-old pushed the six-year-old and then stabbed him in the head with the pencil.

The eight-year-old was taken to the Allen County Juvenile Center on a battery charge.

Fort Wayne Community Schools did not have any further comment about the incident.
