FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Santa and his elves took a break from the North Pole Thursday night to drop by Smith Field Airport in Fort Wayne. He spent two hours visiting with children and posing for pictures to help collect donations for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation. Admission to the event was a new, unwrapped toy.
Last year, the local Toys for Tots program brought Christmas smiles to more than 6,400 children in the Fort Wayne area. This year, officials are anticipating at least that amount, with more than 1,500 families seeking assistance.
