FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The Indiana Department of Transportation will stop road construction beginning Wednesday evening, November 21, until the morning hours of Monday, November 26, to increase motorists’ mobility and safety during the holiday weekend.
Wherever possible, road restrictions will be removed to ease traffic flow for the influx of holiday drivers. Some closures and restrictions will remain on larger projects that cannot safely reopen to traffic.
INDOT urges holiday motorists to make the Thanksgiving holiday travel period safe by observing the following safety rules:
• If you are planning to travel, make sure you are well rested; a fatigued driver is a dangerous driver.
• Avoid tailgating; remember the two-second rule.
• Make sure everyone is buckled up.
• Put down the electronic devices and keep your attention on driving.
• DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE.
• MOVE OVER, SLOW DOWN for emergency and highway service vehicles.
