NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A 2-year-old died Tuesday after being stabbed in the head at a Noblesville apartment, officials said. His father was arrested and preliminarily charged with murder.
Police arrested Micah Harrison, 30, in connection with his son Michael's death.
Police said the Harrisons were visiting extended family in the area.
The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. at an apartment on 14924 Waterlily Drive.
Neighbors told 24-Hour News 8 they saw a number of children outside playing Wednesday afternoon on snow piles. They said they saw a little boy fall, get in trouble and get spanked by a man.
Soon after that, police were called to the apartment complex, after a call that a 2-year-old had been stabbed in the head with a knife. Authorities said they found Michael Harrison suffering from significant trauma to the head.
Soon after that, neighbors said they saw police detain a man on the ground.
“We saw the cops take him out and then put him on the ground,” said neighbor Jordan Hardister.
“He was just laying there on the ground, and the cops had a gun to him saying, 'Put your hands up,'” said neighbor Alex Carstens.
Police said they’re not sure what transpired inside the apartment, where there were multiple people, adults and children, inside at the time, including Micah and Michael Harrison.
Neighbors also said they saw police carry two small girls from the home shortly after the incident.
Micah Harrison was arrested last March in Baldwin County, Ala., for failure to appear. He has also faced charges of menacing.
It’s not clear who lives inside the Noblesville apartment. Neighbors believed it to be a couple who had only lived there for about six months.
Police said the 2-year-old’s mother also lives in Alabama.
