ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A record number of ballots were cast in Allen County during the first two days of early voting.
More than 1,300 people voted Monday and Tuesday compared to 756 over the same amount of time for the 2008 general election.
“More and more people are becoming aware of the opportunity to vote early,” director of elections in Allen County, Beth Dlug said. “I think if people already have made up their mind, it’s convenient for them to come down and vote, I think that’s why they’re doing it now.”
With four weeks remaining ahead of Election Day, plenty can change within various campaigns. When reacting to any concern that votes are coming too soon residents like Leslie Byrne expressed confidence in choices made.
“I’m pretty confident nothing will change my decision between now and then,” Byrne said. “I’ll still watch the debates. I’ll still stay informed, but I think I made the right decision for me.”
Early voting is an option through November 5 in Allen County. Voters should contact individual county election boards for days and times when early voting is open.
