FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) -- Northeastern Indiana prosecutors said tests showing that a 7-year-old Fort Wayne girl had PCP and other drugs in her system were erroneous, and no criminal charges will be filed in the case.
Allen County Prosecutor Karen Richards said the test results on the girl were "false positives." Those results had shown methadone, marijuana and PCP in the girl's system after she was taken to Parkview Hospital Feb. 27.
Methadone is a synthetic opiate used to treat pain as well as heroin addiction, while PCP is an illegal narcotic that can cause hallucinations.
Richards said the hospital does not believe the tests were accurate.
A Parkview Hospital spokesman told the Journal Gazette the girl's test results were a "false positive" but declined to comment further.
