FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - On Monday, Fort Wayne Community Schools became aware that Lindley Elementary Principal Trudy Grafton used inappropriate language to students during an assembly. The assembly was for students in grades 3-5.
According to FWCS Spokesperson Krista Stockman, someone smeared fecal matter on a bathroom stall. Grafton held an assembly to address inappropriate behavior to students.
During the assembly, she used an expletive referring to the excrement on the stall. The elementary office has dealt with the issue. A warning letter has been placed in Grafton's file.
"We certainly don't condone what she did, but we also understand that she made a mistake," said Stockman. "She's apologized and we want to move on from that. She is a very good principal and all the great things she has done certainly outweigh her making one mistake on this one day."
FWCS also sent out a letter to parents Wednesday along with a letter of apology from Grafton .

This is Grafton's first year as principal at Lindley, she was principal at Study Elementary previously.
