FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Early Childhood Alliance's third annual Plank-A-Palooza block building team competition and fundraiser was held on Saturday, October 13 at The Summit.

Plank-A-Palooza involved teams of up to four members that compete in creativity and planning skills. Teams had 30 minutes to design and build a structure. They were only able to use 500 KEVA planks, which are precision-cut maple blocks about ¼" x ¾" x 4½" in size. Only gravity held the plank structures together.

The event raised money for the Early Childhood Alliance to provide services that benefit young children in the Fort Wayne community.

This year's teams included:

  • Design Collaborative SWACTION
  • IPFW Trine University
  • Irwin Elementary School, FWCS Turnstone
  • Ivy Tech Community College University of St. Francis, Accounting Club
  • Signs Now, a Division of Indiana Stamp Early Childhood Alliance, Board of Directors
