FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A second meeting was held Saturday to promote an end to violence in Fort Wayne.
Around 75 people attended the first meeting on Saturday, January 5 . Bishop Malcolm Howell, Pastor at Harvest Word of Life Church, said the first meeting was held as a call to action. This follow-up meeting was held as a call to work and research new ideas to stop violence.
"It's important that we, instead of one person, come together as a community to curtail and stop violence in our city," Howell said.
Howell said the community needs to figure out what other cities in America are doing to stop violence, then tailor those ideas to Fort Wayne.
Howell, who said his own sister lost a loved one to a homicide in Fort Wayne, said the ultimate goal of these meetings is to stop senseless homicides in the city.
