FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- Some boy scouts in the Fort Wayne area spent the night outside Friday night at the annual Boy Scout Klondike Camping Event.
Scouts set up tents behind the Jorgensen YMCA.
They'll get a "freeze out" patch for participating. The idea is to learn how to survive and deal with winter weather and leaders said the latest snow wasn't a problem.
“That's part of the training. We tell them what we need to do to survive in cold. Have the proper clothing, we are layered up and the right sleeping bag and have our tents,” said Alan Ewing, Boy Scouts District Chairman.
Saturday, the boys competed in various events, like sled racing.
