FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne police have confirmed a man was shot and killed just before 8:00 Thursday night on Fort Wayne's southeast side.
Police said the victim was in a vehicle parked in the 2200 block of McKee Street near the intersection of Abbott Street when another vehicle pulled up next to it and someone fired multiple shots.
A woman at the scene, Denise Trigg, told NewsChannel 15 that the victim was her son, Demarcus Adams, 23, and that he died in her arms.
"He died in my arms," a tearful Trigg said. "He died in my arms. He tried to fight so hard."
Police said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. They did not confirm the man's identity.
Multiple shell casings were found at the scene. Witnesses told police the suspect vehicle was last seen heading west on McKee Street. Police have not provided a description of the vehicle.
Police also do not have any suspect information.
Trigg also said Adams was shot near the same area, outside a home in the 2800 block of Abbott Street, last month. He was reported to be in fair condition after the February 15 shooting.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Allen County Coroner's Office to determine an exact cause of death.
Anyone with information is asked to call Fort Wayne police or Crime Stoppers.
