Ohio man hopes he played a part in Romney's visit

Sherwood, Ohio (WANE) Eddie Boterf invited both presidential candidates to his hometown of Sherwood, Ohio in a YouTube video with nearly 500 views.

He's not sure if one of those views was Mitt Romney or anyone on his campaign, but he's hopeful.

Thursday, Romney will be speaking at a Rally in Defiance, Ohio about 10 miles east of Sherwood.

"I'm hyped up," Boterf said. "It does good for Northwest Ohio."

Boterf wanted the candidates to come to a small town to see what like was really like. He said he will be in line early at Defiance High School football field, where the rally will be held. He's excited to see Romney and country stars Randy Owen from the Group Alabama and John Rich perform. However, he wants Romney to focus his speech on the economy and bringing jobs to small towns.

"To see if whatever he says, he's going to back up," Boterf said. "His theme is 'Believe in America,' so don't forget the small towns while you're believing in America."

Residents and law enforcement have heard unconfirmed rumors that President Obama will also be making a stop in Defiance next week.

"It would be off the wall," Boterf said. "Literally, it would be off the wall, as simple as that. It would make me happy that they both take an interest and a little bit of time to show interest in a small town."

The doors to the rally open at 5:15 Thursday evening.
