FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Officials in Fort Wayne spent several hours searching the St. Joseph River early Friday morning for a person who ran from police after a traffic stop.
Around 2 a.m., police pulled over a vehicle for a traffic stop.
Police said that's when two people took off running from the vehicle.
One person was caught and taken into custody. The other jumped into the river.
Fort Wayne Police, the Fort Wayne Fire Department and dive and scuba crews then spent hours searching the river from the Columbia Avenue bridge to Johnny Appleseed Park.
A source told NewsChannel 15 police had been looking for the vehicle because of a prior incident.
