NW Ohio still dark, power back full by Saturday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Customers of AEP Ohio are also without power in northwest Ohio following last Friday's severe weather.

Wednesday night UPDATE:  AEP has provided a nightly update to power outages in Ohio.

AEP Ohio estimates full restoration in those areas will not happen until at least July 7 at midnight.

Current estimated outages as of 10 p.m. Wednesday:

Defiance Co.: 869

Paulding Co.: 2,734

Van Wert Co.: 479

AEP Ohio urges all customers who are using generators to report those to AEP Ohio at 1-800-672-2231. Generators can pose safety risks to workers when working to restore power.

NEW: The Paulding County Emergency Management Office has set up a cooling center at the Paulding County Fairgrounds. All person are welcome to visit the air-conditioned space for a meal, water, or ice.

Thursday morning at 7 a.m. officials will provide a free pancake and sausage breakfast.

Persons will special needs can contact the Paulding Co. EMA at 419-399-3500.

The American Red Cross has set up two shelters in Hicksville and Van Wert:

  • Van Wert Middle School, 10708 Ohio 118
  • First Church of Christ, 118 N. Main Street, Hicksville
