FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A new traffic signal was put up at the Lake Avenue and Maplecrest Road intersection Monday and be turned on to normal operation Tuesday.

According to the City of Fort Wayne’s Traffic Engineering Department, the signal will be fully functional starting at 10 a.m.

The city said the roadway improvements at the intersection have been completed as part of the Maplecrest Road Extension Project.

Maplecrest Road, south of Lake Avenue is scheduled to be completed by November 2012.

While the south leg of the intersection will be closed, the city said the activation of the traffic signal will improve the flow of traffic through this area.
