FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - New changes are being put in place at Parkview Field this season.
Tickets go on sale Saturday morning. You can pick them up in person at Parkview Field, online , or by phone. If you pick the tickets up in person, there will be free breakfast from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Many people are looking forward to The Harrison, a new 43-apartment complex which was built directly next to Parkview Field, being finished. Some of the apartments face the field and provide a great view. Tenants moved into the apartment complex on Thursday, January 31. Michael Limmer, Vice President of Marketing for the TipCaps, said The Harrison will add something new to the baseball experience.
Parkview Field will also be featuring a new area called the 400 Club. The room is exactly 400-feet from home plate. The 400 Club will accommodate 20 to 150 people and can be used by groups or individuals. Groups of 100 or more can reserve it to use exclusively. Food will be served during the game for people using the 400 Club. Construction will begin soon and the project is expected to be completed in mid-May.
You can expect the grass to be greener on the field this season too. Years before, the grass had discoloration and was difficult to maintain. Parkview Field replaced the discolored grass with new sod in October. This year, Limmer said they will be able to put designs in the grass to enhance the baseball experience.
"We're always looking at ways to improve, and then we're just looking for those things that are new. That, people are going to come to the ball park and just recognize that we're bringing something new, new entertainment, new part of the atmosphere," said Limmer.
Opening day at Parkview Field will be on Thursday, April 11 this year. The TinCaps will take on the Lake County Captains at 7:05 p.m.
