FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Fort Wayne crews continue picking up debris left from the June 29 storm that knocked down trees and power lines. They will make a second pass through neighborhoods beginning next week.
Residents are asked to have all brush, tree limbs, and branches on the curb by Wednesday, August 1.
Curbside pickup is designed to take place for several weeks and is not part of regular residential garbage pick-up. Debris should be placed along the curbs, but not in the streets or in alleys.
So far, crews have picked up debris or scheduled pick up in all but five of the 51 collection areas throughout Fort Wayne. Crews will pick up debris in all of the 51 areas, and then make a second pass through each of the areas, to make certain that all debris is collected.
For an updated schedule of when curbside pick up will take place in your neighborhood, click here.
It’s not too late for residents and businesses to help contribute a citywide damage assessment by reporting storm damage to the State of Indiana's Department of Homeland Security. Go to www.in.gov/dhs and click on the link "Report Damage from Severe Weather June 29, 2012," in the middle of the page. The deadline for reporting damage is this Sunday, July 29.
