FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Local college students at IPFW hosted several activities Thursday to show the dangers of texting and driving.

Members of IPFW's Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) student chapter hope people will "Take the Pledge" to not text while behind the wheel. To help do that, a car that was totaled in an accident caused by texting and driving was on display on the Alumni Plaza near the Walb Student Union.

In the afternoon, the Fort Wayne Fire Department demonstrated the Jaws of Life during a simulated accident caused by texting and driving.
